The hillsides hemming in Pindari Dam

The main boat ramp.
Pindari Dam is located on the Severn River 22 kilometres upstream from Ashford. The original dam was completed in 1969.
In 1997 work was completed to increase the storage capacity from 37,500 megalitres to 312,000 megalitres.
The catchment of Pindari is one the best around and the dam fills quite quickly during good rains.
Pindari Dam is just the place for a relaxing camping holiday or a weekend barbecue.
Camping area at Pindari Dam.
Nice place for a barbie.
The facilities and recreation areas have been developed in consultation with local community groups to create the least impact.
The dam is surrounded by untouched native eucalypt woodlands. The granite bluffs that hem in the upper reaches are spectacular and well worth taking a boat trip to see.
The area of water is large enough to cater for all water sports and the fishing is excellent wherever you throw in a line. The dam is regularly stocked by both goverment fisheries and local fishing organisations.
